Loredana Caponata, was born in Baden, AG, is a spirited Swiss woman with Italian roots. She speaks German, Italian, English, and a bit of French. After 15 years in commercial work, Loredana became self-employed at the end of 2010 and began upcycling old furniture for the first time. She sold her unique pieces in her then-store. Sustainability was already an important topic back then, and reviving old things was always close to her heart.

The intentional signs of use in her works symbolize people to her – each piece is unique, each with its own life marks. Her distinctive style was always recognizable. Delicate pastel tones like mint, pink, and light blue, as well as golden accents and polka dots, still accompany her today.

After a maternity break, Loredana turned to figurative abstract painting alongside furniture. This was a years-long process, with her breakthrough coming during a health-related break in 2024. While sitting at her kitchen table, reliant on crutches, and missing half of her income, she began redefining her queens with simple means. She could afford no more. She had only paper, black acrylic paint, and gouache available. In a short time, dozens of unique depictions of women in all shapes and colors emerged. She primarily works with gouache on high-quality watercolor paper in sizes 30x40 cm for framing, but larger works on canvas with an acrylic base are also part of her repertoire. She often paints over old pictures from second-hand shops. She loves to use various media to add special details and accents to depict her unique view of women.

The message behind it? Being a woman in all facets. Being aware of one's true greatness as a woman and recognizing the uniqueness within oneself. The feminine power, which is still often suppressed today because it is not allowed to feel and show itself freely. Playful women with flower crowns and vintage-style crown hats, which she calls Aunt Coronas. What appears childlike and playful at first glance has a deeper meaning upon closer inspection and understanding. The crown stands for the crown chakra and urges us to open our minds. To connect with the universe, to be one with the source, and to gain consciousness. To bring the inner light outward. The Italian-style cooking spoon has accompanied her all her life and stands for spiritual awakening, an invitation to wake up. Humorously and with much ease, she manages to portray spirituality quite differently.

She also conveys this message through her own sayings, which she shares as life wisdom in her way. She has a very good eye for details, and love is palpable in all her works.

Loredana possesses a wide range of creativity. It was a long and not easy path. She had to let go of many things in her life. She knows exactly what it means to create something lasting out of nothing and to stand on her own feet. Her message is clear: It is time to gain consciousness, rethink, and be authentic. It’s not a trend, it’s an attitude.
